Anushka (A+)

After a few average attempts, Anushka has finally hit the bull's eye. She is seen here at Baladoor (her new movie with Ravi Teja) audio release. She is looking radiant, fresh and very pretty.

Anushka has chosen a beautiful Anarkali dress with a white and peach color combo. The white makes her look serene, while the peach adds a feminine glow. I like the pattern on her bosom. It is light and yet full enough to keep the dress happening. Even her jhumkas (earrings) are good.

I must say, so far, this is the best choice of Anarkali and one of the better choices of Indian wear on our list of Fashion Suspects. Sneha, as you are soo obsessed with Anarkali style that you want to almost bring her back to life, you could do well by taking a leaf outta Anushka's book.

Kajal (A+)

Kajal hits it out of the park. Her style and look is impeccable. I'm so happy and relieved to see that some fashion sense is still prevailing among our stars.

At first look it seems like she has worn a pencil skirt with a formal shirt. But, then you realise it is actually a dress and what a stylish one it is! The cut and design are very trendy and she seems to carry it off well.

Kajal adds to the look by her simplistic accessories and great choice of footwear. All in all, a 10 on 10.

Lets hope such efforts continue.

Bhumika (A-)

Wonder of wonders!!! Rejoice everyone! It has happened! The day has finally come! Bhumika got an A! I am ecstatic beyond words, and you will know why if you have seen her past record.

Beautiful, beautiful,, beautiful saree. Great choice! I love the design, and the work is exquisite. The color combination is very subtle and very gorgeous. I'm happy with her style of draping it, as it makes a huge difference to the look. I even like the cut of her blouse. The accessories are non-existent (again due to the launch), but that's absolutely fine since the saree is allowed to stand out.

The only thing that stopped me from giving her an A+ was her makeup. What is with the excessive use? It seems to be the theme of the launch. First Charmee, now Bhumika. Anyway... we can totally overlook that minor flaw and I can't tell you how happy and relieved I am that she didn't wear her trademark gold bangle! :)

Trisha - South Filmfare Awards 2008 ( A+)

Looks like Trisha has a particular fondness for off-shoulder mermaid gowns. Remember last time?

Comparitively, she does well this time. The color and design are good. The sequin work on her shoulder lets the dress stand out well. I would particularly like to appreciate the fitting, as the life of a mermaid gown is in that, and also to Trisha for having a great figure to carry it off. It is very important to remember that mermaid style should be attempted only by thin-figured ladies, since it is figure hugging.

Her choice of accessories is also good. She matches them to the sequin work well.

All in all, she manages to look sexy and classy. Also, many a times people wear great styles but in the wrong situations. I'm doubly happy coz she avoided that and dressed perfectly for the event.

Nayantara - South Filmfare Awards 2008 (A+)

Did someone order a Greek Goddess straight up? Well, here's your delivery.

Awesome choice of dress - very Hollywood-esque. I love, love, love the design and fitting. The flowers give her a very feminine look while the gown gives her a sexy shade. She has sensibly kept the accessories simple to complement the dress and to let it stand out. Even her hair and makeup are good. All in all, a perfect style.

I'm only sad that I couldn't locate a full length picture coz I would love to see how this beautiful dress ends. If any of you guys have it,could you please send it to me?

Allu Arjun - South Filmfare Awards 2008 (A-)

Allu Arjun keeps popping up in our list of Fashion Suspects. He is the only male star who attends various social events and tries out new fashion trends. So, we are more than happy to to review him and are especially delighted when he does well, like this time.

I like the shirt with vest thing he tried out. It was done by Navdeep previously, and while he made a mess out of it, Arjun keeps it simple and effective. The jeans also go well with the look.

The only thing that bothers me are his shoes. I'm on the fence on this one - not able to decide whether they are good or ugly. Friends, what do you think?

Tabu - South Filmfare Awards 2008 (A-)

If wine gets better with time then Tabu gets more stylish with each passing year. From her horrendous errors in fashion to this classy and sexy lady of today, Tabu has come a long way.

Blue seems to be a popular color with ladies this season, you can see so many of them flaunting that it. Well, it suits Tabu very well. The saree is beautiful, but the blouse is what stands out most. It gives an edge and oomph to her look. It is good that the saree is simple to complement the blouse well. Even her accessories are effective and well choosen.

But, I hate her makeup as it ages her very much. But, all in all, a very successful attempt by Tabu.

Katrina Kaif - South Filmfare Awards 2008 (A-)

This gal looks like an angel normally, and when she wears a gown like that...well...

Here, Katrina looks nothing short of a goddess. The design and fitting of the dress is just perfect and the color highlights her peachy complexion even more. It is so great to see a beautiful and simple dress. I wonder when will our celebrities abandon their over-the-top fugliness and adopt such beautiful styles and colors (sigh!).

Ramya - South Filmfare Awards 2008 (A+)

Wow! Just wow!! This stylish gal can give all the leading ladies of our industry a run for their money.

Beautiful choice of color, just beautiful. It goes with her complexion very well. And I love the material, cut and design of the dress. It fits perfectly and magnificently. Ladies, especially Priyamani and Namitha, take note, this is one of the best ways to wear a dress - stylish yet classy, sexy yet decent.

But, the place where Ramya scores the most is her choice of shoes. I was bowled away to say the least. They are just perfectly contrasting and gel beautifully.

I am a little unhappy with her makeup, but I did not deduct any marks for that because she is one of the few Southies who has shown true fashion sense and certainly deserves more than an A+.

Shruti Hassan (A-)

Wow! This girl sure took a hugeee turnabout from her punky avatar. And she is looking great!

I love her saree. Im happy there are some who understand what kind of Indian wear should be worn by young stars. Ladies, take note - wearing Indian does not necessarily mean becoming a nun. Sarees can be classy and sexy when worn like this. Others like Bhumika could do well by taking a leaf out of her book.

I'm happy with her choice of acccessories also. They are minimal and effective. But I wish her makeup were better. It is alright since it is simplistic but it seems too plain. Some defining kohl would be great.

Ah well! Next time :)

Its nice to see our ladies wear Indian for a change and it's even nicer to see them do it so well!


I'm absolutely in love with her saree. The color and design are very modern and feminine. The spaghetti strap blouse also is very complentary to the look. Im very happy that she has choosen to let the saree stand out with minimal accessories. She looks beautiful, slim and stunning.



Actresses like Nayantara and others have donned sarees in the past. Out of these all, which is your favourite?

This lady seems to be everywhere these days!

Here, her fashion sense is almost impeccable. The form fitting tank top is absolutely great. Thankfully Shriya has a great figure to carry it off. Coming to the skirt, personally, I'm not a fan of crushed material. I think there's something pauper-ish about it but it looks good on her as it matches her look. Her accessories are okay - not too great, not too bad. But she should have worn one chunky bracelet instead of two.

I have given her A- because, although she seems to have done everything, it's not quite there yet. But I must give her credit for making a hippie avatar seem angelic!

Nayantara (A+)

Wow! This lady seems on a saree roll and is dishing out one hot look after another.

The lovely feminine pattern adds a touch of beauty to this hot avatar. Looks like she took our advice on the earrings and chose good ones this time. As always, her makeup is well done.

But dahling, why the same surly expression? Cheer up, you are leading in this fashion race!

P.S - All the young female stars listen up, if you wanna wear a saree, something on similar lines is preferable.

Shriya at IIFA ( C-, A+ and A+)

Shriya sure has gone a longgg way from the innocent gal of Nuvve Nuvve to the IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) red carpet at Bangkok. It's great to see our stars making their mark in national and international spheres. Now, coming to her look.

The first look is not at all right. I appreciate the color and the earrings but the cut, design and fitting are not at all good. I especially loathe the horrendous design which makes her look like a badly dressed-trying to be glamorous cheap wannabe.

The second look is perfection. There is no other word for it. Just plain perfection. She looks soo classy and beautiful. Her makeup is just amazing and the cut and make of the dress is very sexy yet classy. Now, that's a tough combination to achieve. Her hairstyle is absolutely apt for the look and her earrings are beautiful too. She looks like a Hollywood star!

The third look is also equally fantastic. The dress is soo beautiful I have no words to describe it. Her hairstyle and makeup( highly defined eyes with plain lips) are just perfect for the look and I love her earrings. I especially like her T-shaped strappy sandals. All in all this look makes her look like a goddess!

I know these looks were especially designed only beacause of IIFA but I wish our other stars would take a few tips from them.

Anyway, I have given a C- for the first look and A+ for the second and third looks. The middle one remains my favourite. What about yours???

Nayantara (A+)

I thought all our female celebrities need a lesson in fashion but, that doesn't seem necessary for Nayantara.

I like her top and her jeans is absolutely fantastic. They match reallyy well. Her makeup is perfect and thankfully not overdone with too much of Kohl ( as is usually done in fusion).

But, the area where she takes all the marks is her accessories. Usually, while trying to do fusion, people go wrong in that department. But here, she has choosen beautifully with the big chunky bracelet. It's nice that she has not loaded herself with jewellery coz this way she look clean and simple.

Sonal Chauhan - Rainbow (A+)

Looks like Tollywood has found a new leading lady and what a fashionable one she is! I mean she looks like a star already!

The dress is veryy trendy and showcases her thin figure effectively. The big sized earrings contrast her outfit very well and are to-die for.

I'm happy that she has chosen her shoes beautifully. Usually, even while wearing a fab dress gals go wrong with the footwear. But, here they are perfect for her outfit.

The only complaint I have is with her bracelet. The make and color do not go with the rest of the outfit at all. If she could chuck that she would end up looking flawless.

It's evident that while she may be a novice to the film scene, she's an expert in the fashion department.

Tarun (A+)

Ah, finally a guy who got his A's and B's of fashion right!

Tarun looks sweet and cool in this look. The black, cleavage-baring-open buttoned shirt looks absolutely scrumptious on him. The jeans also goes well with the look.

He takes the cake with his accessories. The choice of belt and chain are perfect and elevate the look very much.

Its also very refreshing to see him fit and healthy as opposed to his lean and ill-looking colleagues NTR and Vishnu.

Ram's choice of shirt is veryy cool. The printed look really works for him. I'm not a big fan of white jeans but they match the shirt perfectly, so no complaints.

I personally think Tarun wins the style awards among the four of them followed by Ram, NTR and Vishnu.

Hema Malini (A-)

There is a gracious way to grow old and a stunted one. Hema Malini showcases the former while Jayaprada comes under the latter category.

One look at Hema Malini and you'll know why she is known as one of the most classy ladies of yesteryears. The color of her saree is very pretty and goes well with her complexion and the makeup is upto the mark. The jewellery is also very beautiful - I like that she wore a Baju Bandh (arm bracelet). Although, I'm not sure I like the choice of purse - it's too matchy-matchy and does not go well with the look.
All in all, she manages to look very classy, graceful and age appropriate.

Jayaprada, on the other hand, manages to look just the opposite. The high collar, bling blang dress with in-your-face color combo, the million bangles, all together make a disaster. She looks fat and short.

Granted, she is considered one of the most beautiful South Indian actresses, but she could do well with taking a leaf or two from Hema Malini's book.

Allu Arjun Jalsa Audio ( A+)

Well...well...well...look who's here. I'm happy that after that disastrous attempt at MAA awards last time, this time Arjun has stuck to the rules and basics. And the result is for everyone to see. He is looking FAB !!!

A low V-neck shirt with a nice jacket is a great look for guys nowadays and you can see many sporting them. I like the choice of his jeans too. Goes well with the look.

All in all, a clear winner from Arjun. He looks simple and classy. Lets hope he continues the trend. :)

Charmee MAA Awards ( A+)

Aaahh...beauty...sheer beauty....What a pleasant image she makes!!!

After seeing hideously hideous outfits it is a veryy refreshing change to see a beautiful one.

Most of the actresses don't wear Indian clothes to functions and when they do, it is usually the heavy worked red or black colors and their variations. Here, Charmee has presented a very underrated color with light work.

Smart gal that she is, she kept the jewellery and makeup normal and simplistic to balance the loud color. Although I wish she had opted for a bracelet instead of a dozen bangles...ah well...you're looking veryy pretty so thats forgiven :)

Ladies kindly note unless it is YOUR wedding keeping the jewellery simple and minimal while doning Indian outfits is classy.

Way to go Charmee!!! :)
